Exercise Type: Bike
Comments:
I sat in the recumbent bike. Happy to move my legs again in sync. My left leg doesn't feel like it belongs to me.
Vascular Surgeon said I can do upper body, low impact lower body (I have to avoid trauma since I still have blood clots), and swim... but no running for at least 6 months and not to plan on being a 'runner' due to damage done by PTS (Post Thrombotic Syndrome). We'll see...
Today was a reality check. I set the bike to quickstart and the resistance low and my foot went numb as soon as the blood cirulated. I could feel my leg swelling up and the compression stocking (my magic sock) getting tighter. I keep getting told to lose the athlete's mantra to 'push thru the pain, feel the burn' during my recovery and let my body tell me it's limits... so, feeling like the biggest wimp on the planet I limped off the bike and did a few 'cool down' laps around the track trying to memorize the new layout of the new gym (that changed hands while I was 'sleeping') and gimped down the stairs.
