Outdoor Track Fartlek

Comments:
Practice today at 4:30. I guess lab might be switched again so I can make it to practice on wednesdays. Went down to heat my foot/toes beforehand and put on some biofreeze. I think that that helped. Jess thinks that it could be from running in the snow and gripping weird. I also notice that my toes often get sore when track starts. All the training room stuff hleped for sure. We split up into groups today for the workout. Small contingent for the 3k/5k guys I noticed... We headed out to the track to run since the indoor track sucks and it was gonna be crowded. Had a nice fartlek set up 5 x 3min on then 3 min off. Perfect for the track. Ethan met us over there and we got drills underway. We did a lap of striders too to add on to the mileage I guess.

Packed up the whole workout. Me Brandon Sergio Chris E Chippy and Benny D ended up running just about tempo 800s. Coach said that they should be harder than tempo, so kinda hard. We were hitting 2:50 for most of the 800s which was 5:40 pace, what we should be hitting outdoors for long tempos. Didnt feel too strained, only a little in the beginning my shins were tight. We alternated after 2 and switched directions which felt better, even though the wind picked up the other way. Last one we went about 2:40 which was better, and that felt real even. Good workout for today, and I think the guys were pretty pleased. Still got a lot of work to do tho.

Ran back to veale, and I did a little more on Van Horn for the cooldown. Pretty tired after that. Some confusion about lifting, but we went down in the end to lift today. More on that later.

Decent stretch after lifting. Today was the first day where I felt really tired afterward, which is good. Icing my toes after felt good but they are still sore walking home. They were fine running today though. Legs felt malliable, like they can work into it.
