mile and mile and mile

March 6, 2013 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Another day of absolute beauty. Sun out, but still a little chilly. Softball was just starting practice and launching balls at us, so we had to be careful when going over the workout. 5k group was smaller this time, Chris David TImmy Gilad and me. I was off to the end of that pack, but coach wanted Gilad and I to be around each other at low 5 min pace for 3 miles. This workout was supposed to be a cut down, so getting faster each time. Exciting stuff, especially because we had hurdles over 1 and 3 lap.

Warm up over to track, people were going fast, I didnt like it. Standard drills and such then spike up. Felt good monday and yesterday, but pretty sore on the warm up today. Tired to shake it out. There were a lot of people and people were just starting all over the place. I was supposed to go with Gilad, but he went and I wasnt ready, so I ended up running everything alone. First mile was good, went out fast then slowed down, but I was infront of the 10k guys and knew I needed to be infront of them. Started to loose rhythm and pacing at the end. Legs were getting heavy. I havnt really felt springy, fast, or all that strong yet this track season. I def did in XC... Hurdles felt really good though. Like they werent there. They werent very efficient, but it wasnt slowing me down much. More work to be done there to get positive return. Second mile was flat, and slow... didnt feel great from the start. I wanted to go 5:10, went 5:15 so ehh. Wasnt totally into it. Third one was better. I got lapped by Chris, and then David Gilad and Timmy caught me and really pushed me through a good hurdle and helped me find my pace. I really needed that and picked it up and finished strong. All in all, that is the race pace, so for hitting that this early, and knowing I can go harder and be stronger, Thats good. Splits were:

5:15, 5:15, 5:15

Cool down through little italy and mayfield with David Paul and Chippy. A little longer, but it felt good and I need it since I know I am gonna go shorter Saturday probs.

Lift ya dig.

Essentials: Stretch, L7, roll

Ok stretch. Calves really sore from spikes, lower legs not feeling too robust. I want them to feel strong. The soreness will turn into strength.
