from the Arboretum to Mills to University to Park to State to library mall to Langdon to Carroll, loop around the capital to Washington to Vilas to Mills, back through the arboretum except on longer trails, to the parking lot-

This was a run where I couldn't seem to make up my mind exactly what I wanted to do. The context is that today I bought a t-shirt to support Biking for Babies, which is a pro-life group that raises money for womens' care centers, one of which is in Madison. So I originally decided that I had to do an obligatory run through the hippie part of the east side of Madison wearing it (it says "Restoring the Culture of Life" on it), but kind of chickened out and decided to just drive to the Arboretum and run there. On my way, I wavered on that and decided to run from the Arboretum but do a loop through the city, at least to the capital and back first and then I could run whatever trails my heart desired. Once I began at that, I decided that I needed to include State Street (the entertainment district of Madison) on my run, so I started off that way, but it ended up blocked by some random festival, so I cut over to Langdon (UW's frat row).

In all honesty, I think only a handful of people even noticed what I was wearing so it largely didn't matter much. I did notice a few looks. It did seem like people were slightly less courteous to me today than usual but it could be my imagination. It was awkward for about a mile and then I more or less forgot about it and resorted to changing my mind about every block which way I was going to run. I has some stomach problems on the way back and stopped in a port-a-potty along the park on Washington and Park.
