2x1000 descend. 15:40, 15:13(950yd). This was a mentally tough set. I wanted to focus on my stroke and my position in the water, but my mind kept wandering. It's a good thing I didn't have to count the laps, because I would have been lost very quickly. The first 1000 felt strong. I didn't want to push too hard so I would have something left for the second 1000. I really worked on my hand form: entry and glide. I wanted to be sure my hand/arm was not lifting up toward the water surface during the glide. The other focus was the very end of the power phase. I focused on "snapping" my hand to the side which really helped with the roll.
The second 1000 (really it was 950) was more difficult physically. I was tired by then. I felt like I had picked up the pace, but my time would say otherwise.
Pull 8x100(15) w/foils. 1:29, 1:29, 1:30, 1:33, 1:34, 1:35, 1:35, 1:35. I could really feel the strain on the elbows and shoulders with the foils. The body was tired, so I really had some issues with the foils. For the most part, recovery phase was proper (the foils didn't catch). But entry was a problem in that my hands went all over the place; etiher too deep or sideways, or back out of the water. It wasn't consistent, but perhaps 25% of the time my hand entry was off enough to cause a disturbance. This really helped for the following set (w/o foils) where I noticed my hands were held in a much firmer position and seemed to move much more water than when we did the set of 1000s
