so the coach at my high school who was an assitant while I was there asked me to come to their camp to speak to them about my experiences, life, etc. it was kind of neat to get to do, and i got paid 50 bucks! i also ran their workout with them today. it was at 4:30 so it was pretty hot out, and i haven't done any workouts whatsoever this summer. 2 times 5k, and the top guys were supposed to hit between 18:35 and 19:20. so i paced them through on that. the first one i dropped back the last mile to bring in one of the guys who dropped off and we finished at 19:05. it felt pretty tempo-ish, which makes sense.a little more than 6:00 pace, is what i would expect my tempo to be at right now. the second one the one kid joe, was feeling good so i told him i'd pace him to what he wanted, (he went 18:40 on the first) and he said he thought he could break 18 on the second one. we didnt quite make it but hit 18:12. it felt much tougher, but i still didnt feel like i was going too hard. i was very impressed with joe though. his pr is 17:07, and after this workout i'm sure he's going to destroy that this year. he said he's looking at coming to case, which would be cool, but he also is doing early-decision at john hopkins, so if he gets in he is going, haha. we'll see. i hope he gets in, but he's would absolutely be a pretty good addition to our team. he fits the personality well. it was also nice to answer some of the younger kids questions. i hope i helped the team out.
