Today at work was basically consumed with a problem that was brought to our attention yesterday. Apparently the rolling mill across the street had issues rolling in scale into the hot roll bars at the end of July. They only found out about this problem last Friday when one of their customers brought it to our attention.
Unfortanatly for us we had some of the bad rolling in inventory. We went out to catch it and found that some was being used to produced finished goods for us that day. So we watched it get drawn. There were still problems with it post draw so I took samples that we'll work with tomorrow. That took up the vast majority of my time today.
When I got home I found out the Johnny Manzel had been suspended fot one half of the season opener against Rice even though they found no evidence of wrongdoing on his part. The ruling stated that Manzel violated the "spirit of the rule" and should have known that someone was going to profit from the large number of autographs he signed.
Here we go again with the NCAA. Seriously! Half a game? Why even suspend him? So you can save face? You found no evidence of any money changing hands so where is the basis for the suspension. I definitly think that somewhere Manzel was paid for autographs but without evidence on what basis did you suspend him? Also how much money did you the NCAA as a body make off of Johnny Manzel? Using his likeness, image, name, and god like abilities at football? Probaly very much more than zero dollars. You made all that money and then suspend him for signining too many autographs. Seriously!
