Ran at Penn State - Behrend. My plan was to go out 5:35 to 5:40, so I paired up with Mitch Baller who was looking for 5:40 to 5:50. Wound up 5:33 at the mile, but I knew letting up would be a mistake so we stuck with it. second mile was 5:46 for me, and Mitch started to pull ahead. Luckily Mercer caught me as I was starting to get into a bad spot mentally and helped pull me along until I could sort myself out a bit. I was about at the halfway point and I could feel myself trying to give up and I sort of thought, that's bullshit! So I kept at it. Nate pulled up to me again along the top ridge before the three mile mark and helped me get going again. Had a decent downhill section through the woods that time, although I was in a bit of no-man's land. Also I didn't finish particularly well, although people said I looked good. I sort of felt like I didn't deserve a good finish for the kind of poor race I had mentally which sounds weird now but I just didn't have my kick and some Buff State dude rolled me up like 40 meters from the line. Can't let that happen. Decent time overall, but I think the mile markers were off. Either that, or I had the world's worst 3rd mile.
Splits: 5:33, 5:46, 6:20 (?!), 5:52, 5:06
