Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 50 and breezy
Comments:
I missed the meet yesterday so today I did a nice little workout with Ana S. It was such a nice workout. We steadied out with the distance group to the end of Wisconsin, around the Russian Embassy, then added on a little bit more so we would go out in exactly 23min. During the steady part of the run, my shins were strangely sore. But during the tempo, I didn't notice them at all.
Ana and I broke off of the distance group and ran until until Wisconsin and W then curled around the block a bit. It was tough starting the tempo on that big hill by the Russian Embassy but it was a good way to wake my legs up and I really enjoyed pushing it with Ana. Once we got to the top of that hill, it was smooth sailing from there on out. It's been helping me a lot lately to focus on my form while I'm doing workouts--I no longer get shoulder cramps like the ones I used to get when running. Plus, I feel overall quicker and more efficient.
I really enjoyed this workout--running with Ana for the first mile and a half was really nice/ motivating, the weather was warm, breezy, and beautiful, and I felt so happy to be outside, working hard.
When we got back to school, we cooled down a little bit then did strength work. I did planks (40 sec), leg lifts (12 each leg), crunch progression (40sec), pushups (50 then a pyramid up to 9), 6inches (1.5min), and 10 burpees. Khalil and I made a pact to add on one burpee per day for the whole season, starting from today. So I'm excited for that!
