extremely easy cool down with lovebirds RR and JW exploring the Terry Fox Statue.

Wow. Out of all the stupid things I could possibly do before a race, I think I finally topped myself. During the warm up, I realized I hadn't taken extra medication! D'oh! But I told myself to not panick and just relax.

Off the start, I never even hoped to follow DF and ran at my own pace. But JD caught up to me early and challenged me. That was fine by me because I drafted off him for the first 5k. At the halfway marker, which was on a hill on Waterfordbridge Rd, I surged. He kept coming after me so I needed to push most of the way back. I guess my time isn't slow but I left a lot on the course. I will have to be smarter in my preparation next time.
