Tempo at Pratt

Felt like mixing it up a little bit today. I was struggling at work today, trying to organize and make sense of all the data I got the past week. I walked home from town center, and decided that I wanted to do something fast. After getting home headed right out. Ran up to the track, then did a little extra loop around the block to make it 12 mins, right around my old warm up time for MLK tempos. Perfect. Went onto the track and did some drills. It was pretty warm out today and the sun was bright, but it didnt make it excruciating. Drills went well, got to shake things out. It has been a while since I did them.

Shot for a 1 mile tempo, real simple. Just getting back into workouts. It sounds so pitiful but it is more than I have done in several months. Looking for 6:30 pace, didnt really know what to expect though. As soon as I started, I felt smooth. The corners and the straights just felt so natural. It has been a while since doing a track workout, and honestly it was awesome. Held the pace real clean, actually went a little faster on the second half. More importantly the pace was comfortable but sustained. Felt just like a tempo should even though it was so much slower than my pace back at CWRU. HR was 156 at the end, right on target. I was pretty satisfied, and it felt good to do something structured. If this semester is a little lighter and more flexible than last fall semester, I should be able to get in a tempo each week, and see how much longer and quicker I can get. That would put me in fairly decent shape.

Cooled down by running down the hill a little and then getting onto the rail trail via Hazel St. Came back pretty slow just chilling. Legs felt tired, but not all that heavy or sore.

Essentials: Stretch

Good stretch outside when I got back. Might need a leg roll soon off the books. I was just so drenched in sweat when I got home. Happy I got in the good workout today. I wonder if the track will still be open when the semester starts. Maybe I can pass as an Amherst College undergrad and sneak on...
