Clauss to Scenic View to Schoeneck and back to Gehman to Mountain to Resevoir Hill to Sweetwood back into Macungie to Clauss-
As I looked out my window into the rainy fog at the mountain beyond, I came to the burning desire natural to man, that I must climb it. I, for a myriad of reasons, happen to be of the running sort of man, decided that I must not only climb it but run up it. I must run up it not because I am training for something but because it is there.
It was as thus that I set off into the pouring rain up a hill of about three-quarters the size of Crippen. While I was sore on the ascent, slipping against the current one step at a time (the only hope of ever making it to the top), I was not running at Crippen pace jockeying for a spot on a team and a few points in a Regional meet (if only...); nay, I remain retired from that. When I reached the summit, I made my turn to come back down through the little Borough of Macungie, the water washing me back down the side of the hill. It was more of a cleansing than a fury.
I returned back to my place at the end, stepping out of the run and into the rest of the world beyond my solitary release. I chose to do this run not because it was easy to do but because it was worth doing. That cannot end when I finish at my door back into real life. I must strive for the good not because it is convenient but because it is good; I must strive for the truth not because it is popular but because it is true. To believe in anything is to be willing to be a made a fool to the world for it.
