October 1, 2015 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Pretty much spent the whole day in my office thinking about stuff. Organizing, categorizing, and prioritizing. By the early afternoon I was definitely burnt out and feeling a little achy crappy. Good thing I brought my stuff to run on campus. Started out slow heading towards the gym in case I needed to use the bathroom, but felt ok and just kept going. Looped down to Triangle then came up to O-Hill and over to the XC Course. It was real nice out there today with the fall weather and the breeze. Felt soooo XC. Started to feel real good on the grass too picked up the pace and kept rolling. Cut over to the Access Rd and came back down to the gym. From North Village on I was going pretty quick and at a good pace. Didnt plan it kinda just happened. I was actualy surprised how fast it was. As I ended at the gym thought it might be a good idea to keep it going and see what a solid "race pace" should feel like. I jumped on the treadmill for 2 miles, cutting down the pace from 7:30 to finish in 6:00. It was so fucking boring... those 2 miles felt like they took as long as the outside part. Why are so many people in there jogging at 9 minute pace? Go outside, enjoy the weather! I was soaked afterwards since I had on a long sleeve, which wasnt necessary today. Everyone else is all bundled up so I thought it was chiller than it actually is. Just wait people... After the treadmill finished with a slow 0.5 mile cooldown on the indoor track. Feet and calves were probably gonna be sore after that.
Essentials: Stretch, roll, L7, hips
Solid stretching afterwards over by the mirror and the rollers. It wasnt too crowded today I easily got a spot. Hips got a good workout too. Afterwards slowly jogged back to the parking lot. Legs are feeling good. Surprised at how well the run felt and how far I went. I dont think I need another long run, being just one week out, but another medium longer run would be good. Fitness from todays run tells me I can run much more strong and comfortable than when I decided to sign up for the race. Thats great progress. Feeling very tired afterwards though. Stomach kinda hurts and I feel achy I hope another cold isnt going around. That would be bad timing, but good thing they make Sudafed. Might also be the shift in the weather, its getting colder and rainier. Summer has definitely passed. Now onto Autumn.
