CMLXI

October 9, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Rainy, awful

Comments:
I woke and rushed to breakfast and 10 o'clock Latin, after which I went back to bed for three hours, rising again at 2:26--this might seem imprudent, but given how tired I felt, I knew it was necessary. It's also made me less anxious about getting to sleep tonight. At 3:30 I went to the health center AGAIN and learned that my eardrum is not ruptured, and I just have to finish the antibiotics and wait patiently for it to drain. Then I did Blair wormhole variation with Jay at 4:15 starting from Gladden, which made it six in total. We stopped in the field house and did drills and six striders. Despite the miserable weather, and abundant puddles, I felt fit and confident.

As for the race tomorrow, I have no plan. Going out hard in a distance race has pretty much never worked for me, but even worse will be starting to conservatively and regretting it later. I'll need to find some happy medium in order to race well, and I need to throw out the clichés we tell ourselves before races (see below), and make sure I motivate myself to push the final two miles.

1. I haven't achieved anything in college running yet.
2. I am in the best shape I've been in, why shouldn't I run well?
3. I need to prove my worth to Pete.

No pressure, right?
