Jumping into the college 8k illegally definitely added an extra element of intrigue to this race. I lost Rusty almost immediately and really felt spent after mile one at least in the air intake department. I floated for a while after this not really too engaged (I heard a coach yell, "don't float" to one of his runners and I thought, yeah that's good advice I do that sometimes--"float". I'll just sit back in the relative comfort of the float effort. It takes a lot of positive confidence (and guts) to turn it on and keep it on. I didn't adequately prepare myself with a ready supply of PPT thoughts to keep myself going, so I didn't think too much and I just floated). I really enjoyed running with NNU and encouraging the guys around me. It felt a little like old times. Some of my best races I ran in a pack of teammates, each of us constantly encouraging each other. It's pretty powerful and it's amazing how much easier it is to run hard when your focused on pumping your buddy up.
My time was ~27:10 which I'd have like to see faster but this time stacks up well to last year's time here.
Oh and having the team cheer for us was excellent. I smiled a lot out there. Thanks guys.
