January 8, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Drove over to AU for my first real workout of winter break. Tom wrote that everyone is doing 8 by 3:00 with a 60 second recovery, which he called a "strength workout." It proved to be very difficult. One, being on my own made it hard. Aside from that, I had no idea how I was going to pace it. I thought that I did the first one too aggressively, but it turns out that I actually went further distance with each rep (which was easy to measure being on the track). The first one was probably about 810 meters, and the final one about 840. Including the recovery jogs, it was 22 laps, or 5.5 miles. I did not take the recovery jogs slowly--probably about 7:00-7:30 pace, which in retrospect, was not a good idea. It hurt like hell. I feel accomplished now, but that was one of the hardest workouts I've ever done. I'm in great shape, especially for January. Enjoyed stretching at the top of the AU parking garage which is close to the track. Good view and was happy that my illegally parked car didn't get towed.
