Queen Elizabeth Park

April 4, 2021 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Bike

Comments:
Calf still rock hard today, so I took the bike out. Sun was up and out for an absolutely gorgeous day today. All religious centers are closed so its a perfect excuse to skip church on Easter and go to the park. I saw a lot of people out and about, some masks, mostly distancing, but surely some mixing of households and just generally not the behavior I would expect in a dangerous pandemic. Ehh, we made our choice and played our hand and have to somehow deal with the consequences. Anyways, I ripped east on 20 and 33rd to the park then biked up to the observation point. You may remember Queen Elizabeth Park from the episode of "Breakfast Lunch & Dinner" where David Chang and Seth Rogen first go smoke a joint. Lots of people up there and pretty good views especially on a nice day. The hills were a good work but always met with a downhill. Came back 37th to the greenway, past the botanical gardens, then up to 33rd and wound my way back to Dunbar, stopping off at LD to get some wrap for my calf. Then I took it easy home. Not as good of a workout as a long run, but the uphills I dug real deep and kept it in high gear for the strong push. Surprised the number of steep sections along the way.

Essentials: Roll

Didnt stretch much when I got back but need to hit the roller more and rest up before embarking on more mileage. Such a good choice to get out and enjoy the day though and explore a new section of the city.
