Comments:
More heat today. I didnt really have anything to do so I just hung out inside. Heat peaks at the later afternoon so I got out after lunch was mostly digested. Wanted to do some speed work after feeling so good yesterday and being inspired by the Olympics. Also, why did we never call track and field "athletics"? Seems like that's what the rest of the world refers to. Weird... Anyways, warmed up to Balaclava. It was already moist, I could smell it in the air. Basically no one was at the park either. I got right into it, trying to handle 400s with 2 min intervals. Gives you about 30 sec rest on each one. Not sure how it would feel compared to the rolling 1 minutes I did last time. Even starting out, didnt feel great. Legs a little constrained and the heat hit quickly. By the last few I was feeling if and fell off on the last rep, so I knew it was time to finish. I had to walk that off a bit down the block because I got so winded and light headed. Good thing the sprinklers came on right as I finished cause I needed a dunk. Took it back real chill on 29th and my legs eventually caught up to me. Good way to compress effort and not spend too much time in the heat. Intervals were:
83, 83, 83, 83, 81, 85
Essentials: Stretch
Good stretch when I got back after downing several bottles of cold water. I simmered down after walking and running back but dang, that was tough effort. Good to get the speed and get used to it but I am not strong enough to go that fast right now.
