Rocky Mountain National Park

August 12, 2021 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Walk

Comments:
We secured passes to get through RMNP which is awesome because I didnt want to drive back the southern route. For hiking, we got that in early on the meadow (park) hikes along the Colorado River. It was nice and clear today, and the park was just so picturesque and pretty. Mountains don't look that big compared to Canadian Rockies, but it was really a nice view. Park wasn't too crowded until we ascended the trail road and made it above the tree line. Wind was whipping up there at 12000 ft. We could almost see to Wyoming! More driving on the twists and turns. I couldn't really look out the window because I had to keep my eyes on the road. Lots of driving today but we took breaks while we could. It was really cool to be in the park and take it, again reminded me of driving up Beartooth Pass but I felt more in the moment now, which is good. Long drive at the end of the day through Estes Park and to the airport. I really despised the plains after being up in the mountains. Such a drastic change. I was pretty tired at the end of the day as Max and I went back to Denver and then Boulder. Feels good to get out and be on the move and see it all.
