Jericho Tempo

April 9, 2022 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Caught up on sleep today. I was pretty tired after the week. Lazy this morning but It was nice and sunny out. Now that I got a "race" on the schedule, I figured I need to get in better prep for it. It was pretty windy and I didnt want to fight that on a tempo, so I went down to the woods at Jericho beach and ran the loop, which is exactly 1 mile. Took me 2 miles to get down there, good warm up didnt feel exactly ready. Stomach was kinda crampy. I rolled right into it though. Legs felt good, everything else was a struggle. Its clear I do not have much strength to hold the pace together. I know from training how important that is too. The laps were fine I dont think it was quite up to what I can do for a tempo because it wasn't as consistent due to weird wind patterns and being a little too hilly. This loop is much better for intervals or fartlek. Tempo on the beach would have been perfect but it was way too windy. I set timer for 15 mins, did two laps plus a little bit extra out to the road. HR was like 130ish when I finished, no where near tempo even though I felt winded. Means I must have slowed down near the end. Took a bit of time to recover then came back up Highbury and 8th. Went pretty slow back up the hill.

Essentials: Stretch

Good stretch when I got back I needed to rehydrate first, I think that was one of my issues today. With my cross training during the week and mileage during the weekend, its gonna be a stretch to get into goo race shape. Ill take run shape at this point. Goal is just to stay strong and negative split. I think the pep is there in my legs, just got to go along long enough to access it.
