(with Dave Carter and Chicago Chris)-
I started this off more concerned about my knee than anything else, but it started becoming apparent very early that I was destined for some serious digestive issues. For the last 5 miles of this 6 mile tempo I felt sick and wanted to just stop. But I've let that kind of thing become a bad habit when things are going poorly and that's been my undoing, so I decided to try and stay with Dave and Chris even if I pooped my pants, no matter how horrible it felt. I was rather frustrated with myself and my unwillingness to make things not feel good and I decided to clear my mind of worries and repeatedly ask God for the strength to keep going. We finished it in 34:52, roughly even splitting, with my heart rate at 180, which I think was raised artificially some from my bowel situation, feeling oddly relaxed.
The cooldown was hideous and I had to make a bathroom stop at Nord. I almost made another one at Fribley, but decided to tough it out. I spent half the night on the toilet, but all in all I think this was respectable given my problems.
