Soberlook up North Park to Shelburne to Warrensville Center to Shaker to West Park back (with Austin), Chestnut Hills to Coventry, straight back to Soberlook (alone)
I felt pretty good today after a pretty full recovery from last Wednesday. We talked about football and running mainly. Neither of us ever plans to try running 24 hours straight! My lungs were burning for some reason, which I think might be some sort of allergy. By myself, I let my thoughts wander to war and peace and good and evil.
I heard this today and thought the following lines really sum up the perspective I have (and have to keep) about running this year. From "Lux Benigna" by John Henry Newman:
"Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom, lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home; lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.
I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou shouldst lead me on;
I loved to choose and see my path; but now lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years!..."
