Cemetery Hill repeats

February 5, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Almost warm

Comments:
Warmup, 8x 200m hills (the hard part), 1x400m hill, cooldown with the mile group. Woke up a little late which left me with relatively little time to prepare. Had a sore throat, I'm probably a little sick right now but nothing too bad. I was a little dehydrated too which probably didn't help things either but I ran the workout hard like it was supposed to be, so in that sense, I'm happy with it (though I'd rather not get lapped on these repeats.)

Ran these hard, gave myself a lot of recovery time. Coach said to give yourself extra recovery if you needed to, and I did (especially after burning the first one with Chris and Mark). Recoveries got progressively longer and my times still got slower which means I was really working hard. Towards the end of the last several repeats, I was fully locked up and couldn't go much faster. The 400 was similar, after coming off the hard part in lock mode, I slowly picked up speed into the flat but it was tough. Wish I could run these with less recovery but for now the important thing with this is to burn hard, which I feel like I did.

Recovery progressed from just over 2 minutes to just over 3, averaging around 2:40.

Splits: (41.6, 45.1, 45.1, 46.8, 47.8, 48.4, 46.1, 50.4, 1:42) Average for the 200's: 46.4

Props to Peter for doing a kick-ass job in the workout today.
