Track workout... on a monday?

Switched things up this week. Looks like we are gonna do tempo on Wednesday. Had a decent workout planned, focused on throwing the hammer down on the last 200 and finishing strong. I attempted to complete the whole thing on the track. This would be my first complete workout, 2 weeks before I want to race. I was nervous going in, wondering if I could do it.

Started with a loop around Severance for warm up. Did Kamalsky warm up when we got back, then with out much dilly dallying we started the workout. We did 4 x 800/200, 600/200, 400/200. I was mostly nervous about the 1000s. The first part was supposed to be a bit slower than race pace, then kill it on the last 200. Splits were

2:40/35, 2:39/35, 2:39/36, 2:41/36, 1:57/36, 1:12/33

Thats sub 10:00 pace (a bit slower than what I want my race pace to be). I was tired, didnt keep up with the pack infront either, but i focused on hitting the times. It was about 39-40 on each lap. Very consistent. My calves and shins were tightening up after each interval, but that is expected. The race is gonna be tough. I felt like I could have gone faster, I just couldnt move my legs fast enough around the turns. I know what I need to feel at the end of the race, so why not make it happen.

Cooled down with Peter and Ethan outside, then went down to lift. Did a new lift with 1-arm goblet, weird jumpy presses, and band work. Didnt use to high weights but it felt strong. Back upstairs for stretch and abs with Corey. I plan to do more L7 later.

In the end, it was a good workout. I felt worked at the end, and that I can run on the track. Hopefully I wont to much more on there, but I think that the race will be a good indication of what I can do outdoors this year and in the future.
