E.Overlook intervals

February 14, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Workouts came out late today, so I didnt really know what to prepare for. I have been feeling kinda crappy lately, cramps in my stomach and a sore throat. I havnt been taking Vit C drops because I ran out. I guess I just needed a good run.

Didnt warm up on the track and went straight into Kamalsky drills. The distance guys then head out to E. Overlook to do the workout (MLK was too icy). The plans was 3-4 x 2000m at tempo, w/ 2 min rest, then 6 x 1 min at 5k pace with 1 min rest inbetween. We could measure out distances so we went by time. I did 7:00 min intervals, because coach suggested that to me. I fell behind the back and got of sync and ended up doing the workout alone. I still tried to push myself as much as I could, and feel like it went pretty well. It was tough at times, but I kicked my form up, stood tall and looked ahead. We did the 2000m on the eoverlook/Lincoln loop. I did the minute sections all the way down eoverlook (mileage is an approximation). They were downhill and I was rolling. I wanted the 1 min sections to feel like my legs should feel, fast. That what I need. I have the arobics, its just my legs arent used to going fast after this whole year.

My foot was fine today. Right shin was a little sore, and my knees felt weak at times, but thats just because I have old legs. I put Biofreeze on my ankle, probably didnt need it at all. My sore throat went away also. It and the stomach cramps came back after dinner though :(. I am still going to do the best I can no matter how I feel. Plus, I ran some of my best raced on Sudafed, but ill save that for later.

Cooled down by myself, and then stretched for a little bit before lifting. It was the same as last week. I upped the weights and it felt pretty good. I dont now how much of a difference it is making, but I hope it helps me out later. David, Peter nand Nick and I all did abs in the weightroom, which seemed to take forever! Stretch and ice in the training room after, while discussing the future of the XCFH.

Before the workout coach asked me what my pace was going to be/ what do I think I can run now. I realized that I have no idea. I want Friday to be a test at how fast my body can go, and at how far my mind can take me. I feel like I have been training both for the past year. This will be an indication of where I am at, and I am excited. All I am asking for is the chance.
