Started out as a nice day outside. Sun and blue skys. After math, it turned to crap. it was snowing and it didnt stop all afternoon. Didnt think anything of it. I always go outside. I have grown up in crappy weather and always just went out and did it. Its been a while since the weather has changed my practice plans.
We were going to do the workout from last week over hurdles. Since we got stuck inside on the indoor track, I opted to take out the hurdles. I am still a little nervous, and didnt trust trying to maneuver around and hit the track hard. I think it was the right decision. I feel bad for not getting in the practice. I know that I need to be strong and quick in the later laps. This workout wouldn't have helped that. This workout was about going fast over hurdles, I can do that. I need to be able to stay quick after running several laps. The rest took that away. The opportunity would have been helpful though. I feel bad for David and I.
Anyways I shouldnt be to pessimistic. I still got in some good work. Warmed up to PBL and back with Chicago Chris and David. It was snowing, but not cold. The slippery was bad. Did a Kamalsky warm up while trying to decide the workout. Did 8/4/2/2 at fast pace 2 times. I tried to go hard, but its tough around the turns and in trainers. I didnt hit the times, but I did hit 3k race pace times, which is good for pacing. Times were
2:25, 69, 33, 33, 2:30, 69, 33, 33.
Yea. Thats about it. Didnt feel that bad in hip and knee. My lower quads were weak though. That was the nice part. Also Davids foot wasnt bad, so I guess we could do workouts on the track. Did a cool down with Chicago Chris to northside and back. It was snowing then and our glasses got all covered up so we couldnt see anything. Got back, went down to lift. Back squats with just the bar because I was sore, but really went hardcore on the other stuff. The pushups were hard as usual. Back upstairs to do stretch, roll, L7 and ice. Feeling ok at the end of the day.
Good thinq I am not going this weekend. Have the time to get in a good workout with hurdles perhaps, should be an endurance workout. Still glad to be back at a practice at all. Today wasnt a setback. It was frustrating, but its all part of the overall race. At OWU, I want to race again like I have for the past 2 races. This time I remember what I am doing.
