Around Eugene / Practice Track

January 12, 2009 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid-high 50s, PURE SUN

Comments:
After dicking around I decided to take advantage of the sunny weather and tool around on my bike, to snap some "winter pics". I biked through Alton Baker/PRE to campus, stopping at Hayward for my first visit of '09 -- quite a delay, considering it's traditionally been a "first thing to do" every time I come to town. My injury status prevented an immediate visit so far.

For shits I got on the warm-up track and did some drills, then some bounding, then some jogging. Long story short, I had a slight epiphany, insofar as I determined it WAS my lack of pelvic mobilty (especially the L side) that's been causing my knee pain. In short, I wasn't retracting/extending my L pelvis/hip.

Curious, I moved onto the square warm-up track and ran -- over-emphasizing pelvic/trunk rotation and extension -- and sprinkled in some bounding to re-iterate the feeling of extension.

It went WELL. ZERO pain for over 20 minutes, total. However, I did feel some "sensation" in the medial knee but nothing near Saturday, or the previous weekend (and notably, that sensation came on at/before 10min).

After that stuff, I biked through campus, right during passing time. WOW. TONS OF PEOPLE. That's the first time I've been on campus during the school year. Ever. Very cool.

AMAZING WEATHER TODAY! WOW! Gonna head for the coast this afternoon to bike/tool around. It's supposed to be equally sunny/calm/amazing there.
