Crater Lake climb + Rim

August 6, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Bike

Comments:
Up EARLY w/B - she was a last-minute addition to the trip. Out at 6, but took longer than I remember to get there. W/a gas/coffee stop, I wasn't on the bike until after 0830, but we still got in before having to pay. Score!

Skeeters were brutal at the entrance, but never noticed them again once on the bike. Had an OK climb in the beautiful morning sun to the Rim. Met B up there, then biked around.

Biked clockwise to Mt Scott, where I ran up/down. Brought the MT101s and had a nice run: 27min up, 15min down for the 2.5 each way. Great views.

The next leg of the bike from Mt Scott to the Visitor Center was tough. Was not feeling very good. Took some sugar, then stopped at the south junction to eat a salt packet. Felt better, but a bit sketchy up at the Visitor Center, so I bagged the last 6mi of the ride.

TONS of people - sheesh! We did a nice mini-hike on the rim trail, then bugged out. There was 20 cars in line at the Ranger check-in as we left.
