I'm an IDIOT

May 2, 2012 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Woke up at 0515, stretched, did core stuff, watched WS vids, then went for a run. Felt fine pre-run and in the night. A bit sore early and more sore than yesterday on the 4-miler into Alton. Bummer.

Again, it got sore on the UPHILLS.

So...I'm a HUGE IDIOT. It IS the joint: like Mike said when I saw him, the talus got cock-eyed and jammed up into the ankle joint - pissing off the ankle (and with it, the tib ant - either directly or indirectly). It felt a TON better yesterday because:

A.) Jeff & I got the ankle joint moving.
B.) I wore compression socks to stabilize the joint!

This morning: no compression socks, pain on uphills = joint in dorsiflexion. ALSO: I noticed yesterday that the joint would "quickly" lose the ROM I gained with stretching, indicating a joint that's a little sprained.

When I saw Mike, he taped my ankle and gave me a sleeve. But after I had "tendon pain" 2 days after seeing him, I ditched it! What an idiot! So the joint re-tweaked/re-stiffened (in the bad position).

Now: wearing tape, brace and compression sock. Feels a TINY bit sore (more at the ankle, NOT the tendon), but otherwise good. Like Mike said, it's runnable (he had no issue with full training...), so long as it is taped/braced!

Sheesh...I can only hope I can get it to tighten/stabilize and also be able to run on it.

Motor control: working on landing whole foot, not on the outside of my foot. That, I think (+10K descent at Sonoma) is what torqued the joint to begin with...

The plan was to run Hardesty today...I'm questionable on that now...we'll see how it feels as the day progresses.
