S.Willamette +Eula + Hardesty + June + Lost Ck +

Weather: 50s, partly sun -> crap/cold

Comments:
GOOD run. Started at noonish. Tired.

Easy up to South Willamette, then meandering on overgrown trail. Hit Eula in :55. Eula was fairly runnable until the last half, then it was steep as shit -- as if trail cutters got sick of making switchbacks. Hit Hardesty trail in 1:55, then the summit at 2:02. By the time I got to Hardesty trail it started to rain and was raining somewhat steady, and it got COLD! The hood went up and stayed up the rest of the run.

I didn't linger at Hardesty; I ate a Clif bar while walking down to Sawtooth. Instead of simply running to Lost Creek, I went all the way to the top of June, trying to run hard to get some heat going! I thought about the absurdity of this weather - 40s, rain and snow at 4k' -- with WS upcoming.

Hit the Lost Creek junction in 2:35 and tagged June in 2:55. Stopped the watch there for a gel, to stretch, and to find I dropped my Clif bloks. Ran back to the junction (3:10) and dropped down.

I pushed the descent ever so slightly -- trying to decide if I wanted to tempo this last 10ish miles. Felt great on the descent - focusing on pulling the foot beneath me to avoid braking/toe-jamming -- with only a slight energy blip right before the road. I took a gel (my last; I lost another one!!) just I hit the road (3:40?), and just as the rain started getting hard!

The weather made the decision to go tempo: I ran fairly hard down the road (:18) and onto the trail. With no more energy, I was a bit worried about how it'd go. I was also staving off a deuce! But everything felt great back on single track -- maneuvering through mud and low, soaked branches. The climbs up from Goodman Creek were STRONG! I pushed them all, without a hint of any shuffle, let alone walk.

Hit the parking lot in 4:30, for a 1:20 last segment, which is normally 1:30. AWESOME RUN.
