Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70F, sunny and nice

Comments:
Had to work a bit later than usual today, so I didn't get home 'til close to 5PM. Quickly changed and out the door, greeted by nice conditions after a pretty cold morning.

Hit Hayward for the drills, then looped around to the base of Hendricks Park for some hill repeats. Calves felt pretty good; some really mild soreness in the R, which I stretched out before starting.

Did just three reps today, but felt really good: 1:44, 1:45, 1:40. Dropped it down in the last one mostly d/t starting a bit faster. Ran pretty fast on the downhill, working on forefoot strike for practice for Butte to Butte and Buckshot. In fact, the hill climb in this workout is terrific rehearsal for both those races.

As has been the case all summer, I finished this session feeling better than when I started. The cooldown through Pre was good, but I was bonking, having only had a salad for lunch and no snack or any food for 5+ hours. Beyond that, I felt good and cranked the last bit, if anything.

Had a terrific one-liner on the run today: they're installing a fence lining about 30m of pathway at the north end of the Autzen Footbridge. Yesterday they dug the holes and placed the posts, and today when I ran by I saw from a distance that they'd poured the concrete. As I approached, I noticed there was a lone security guy (in uniform) standing there. As I ran past, I said, "It's like watching CEMENT DRY, huh?"

AHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY GOD IS THAT FUNNY!

His only reply was, "Yup"!

After the workout I rolled over to Stef's since she owed me dinner. Good time! Food was good, and the weather was great, so we went for a "fitness walk". The highlight of that was when she tried a "surprise attack" while I was admiring the grass edging of a neighbor's house. I felt a brief "perturbation" of balance, and then I saw HER fall to the ground. HA! Good one.

Watched "Stranger Than Fiction" with Will Ferrell. Good movie, for being a "pseudo-comedy". Stayed up way too late, but it was worth it.
