Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40s and fog -> high 40s and sun!
Comments:
Got up SUPS early (pre-5AM) to drive 2+hrs to Hagg Lake to help out. Didn't have to, but I really feel like I need to "give back", and to connect to The Community as much as possible. I know the folks that put it on, so it was a no-brainer.
Got there just after 7, milled around and reconnected to a bunch of folks, including Michael Lebowitz, who's the awesome race photog from Eugene. He's going to GIVE me a pic of BGD and I coming down from Maiden ("Leap of Faith") right before he bitched out and calf cramped! ;-) 16x24 shot! Very cool!
Once the race got going, I helped with some odd jobs, but more or less killed time til it was time to sweep. Ran one lap at 12:30 with a couple from PDX. Didn't take too long to reel in the DFL's, so we took turns running in reverse to get in miles. Near the end, I wound up simply walking behind the last guy (about 100-200m), as by then I got a good 14mi for sure with all the out and back.
L foot a bit sore, but not nearly as bad as last time I did 8mi on the shoulder. Felt tired, but otherwise solid. Back a teeny sore...
Course was shockingly dry: a tiny bit soft, but definitely not the epic mud the course is known for. Nevertheless, Jacob Putzy's 3:24 on there is beastly.
