Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Got home from work and lifted and did circuits before Stef came to take us to Hendricks for the Running Co. hill session. Definitely didn't need a hill workout, but I wanted to do something fun and run with people, for a change. That, and they go out for food/beer afterwards, which was the real draw!

Got there after six and missed the warm-up so we went solo for about a mile. The "coaches" present were Max King (steeple), Matt Shear (800) and Ryan Bak (5K) -- all OTC guys and Trials competitors. I chatted with Max for a while before the workout because he works at Bend Research and knows Casey well. Nice guys.

The hill workout consisted of more-or-less continuous running throughout many random hills in Hendricks. To keep the group together -- about two dozen people in age ranges from mid-20s to 75 -- we did a lot of "out and back" hills: so we'd run UP, then 180 back down the hill, pretty much like doing the shuttle run up a hill.

I kept it in "easy breathing" the whole time, but after 45 minutes, the legs were burning. I am DEFINITELY getting fit though, because, aerobically, I felt GREAT -- despite having done an AT, working, weights, and circuits.

Overall it was a good time. I hung on Jim's shoulder at first, but he slowed down quite a bit by the end so I was leading by quite a bit. Kind of weird to be running in this group: clearly more rec-level runners...while being coached by near-Olympians. Whatever the case, I had a great time and met a bunch of cool people.

Stef and I went back to my place, showered, iced her foot, and hit up Villard St. Pub for food, beer, and then our customary "fitness walk" to wrap up the evening.

Great day, but TIRED!
