Hardesty Wednesday

May 8, 2013 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 60s? Nice

Comments:
Got a late start after staying to talk to Christy.

A LOT of backpain today, fuck! I think I realized what it is: sitting <--> standing. Seems silly, but the back can do weird shit when you do that (it's like a squat every time). I think my back is "shearing" forward when I stand up. And...I literally sit/stand/ probably 100x a day, maybe more. The thing is, my back feels FINE when I run (unless it's sore going into a run), but hurts when I work. It hurts worst on a Wed/Thu, then it's back to fine by Sat and Sun, which is proof it's work. I think I'm a lot more conscious of standing posture... Dunno. Gonna have Mike look at it at PT Friday.

The idea for today was to go MUCH easier, to save energy for the track session. Wore the HR monitor to keep tabs on things.

Felt GOOD today: but worked on keeping things real easy. Wore the PI N2's (a slightly heavier "trainer"...but it's literally 8g heavier than the N1!). Was maybe a 1min/mi slower on the first two miles, but then went back to usual pace! Oops!

The R heel started to bother me, so I broke a Cardinal Hardesty rule and stopped and wiggled my heel bone. Felt much better.

As I was about to remount, I heard what seemed like voices in the woods. There's NEVER anyone up this high on the trail. I've seen maybe 4 people in two years up high (besides my own company), but sure as shit, it was two runners coming down! One local ultra guy I know (Taylor Spike) and a female friend (Becky?). We chatted for about 1-2min then I took off again.

Rest of the climb went easy. You know you're running easy when your mind totally wanders like an easy run - and it truly did! If anything, I was running too fast as a result.

Hit the summit in 63-high...without stopping my watch. That means maybe a 61-62. Probz faster because I rested x2, but still.

Didn't hang out long, and I was on my way down. Felt half-way coordinated on the downhill, again focusing on yoga breathing (closed mouth, deep in and out of nose). Clocked a 39:30, which is pretty solid.

No Max's tonight...too late, gotta have some sleep discipline...
