Ridgeline...tastic

May 12, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80? Pretty damn warm...

Comments:
Lazed around this morning: slept "in" 'til 8AM; again sleeping on the couch downstairs, this time for the entire night because of the heat (haven't put the fan up in the high window...don't have a ladder!).

Called and talked to mom, R-logged, then did a bunch of strength (4 sets of leg stuff, 5 of upper), then finally had breakfast (half dozen eggs, per usual) at 10AM.

The idea was to venture out to Hardesty, but I just couldn't stomach that 1hr roundtrip. I knew that Mr Roberts, et al was going to run in the afternoon, so I got a hold of them. They weren't going 'til 2, so I figured I'd go early, do the bulk of my run, then finish up with them.

Ran from the apt, through downtown, all the way to Rexius and the Headwaters. Kept it SUPER-easy, thinking again about fat-burning. This was no problem, because I was TIRED. Not too trashed, though - from the 2x5K and 4xbeer/lap.

Ran up to Mt Baldy, then over to Spencer and ran/hiked up "The North Face" to the summit. Swear that "Moms love Spencer Butte" - for the 2nd year in a row, there were about 100 people hiking it. Once on top I spent half the descent dodging people: tons of women, kids, and dogs.

Got to the top and the watch read 1:50! F! Supposed to meet the fellas at 2, about 2.5 miles away, so I hauled ass downhill - definitely going out of fat-burning - back to Headwaters. Got there about 8min late, but they were still there: Mr Roberts, Cliff and T-Bag. I was super-thirsty, so I dragged off a water fountain for 5min before we got going.

Ugh, I was tired. I shuffled along behind the guys, as we once again climbed up Powerline, this time forgoing the Baldy Summit, and running the length of Ridgeline Trail all the way to the west trailhead. About 98% of that time was spent with Jason giving Cliff a TON of shit for cheating in the beer mile!

Cliff had quite a racket going: he plugged holes in the bottom of his four racing PBR cans, then covered them with tape. And, as an added covert measure, he also taped the other 8 cans he brought...as if the brewer "taped" them all. Really, bro? So then, the debate raged about just *what* he did after he poked those holes:

- Did he simply de-fizz?
- Did he drain out some of the beer? (Mr Roberts claimed the beers were light, pre-race)
- Did he drain out ALL of the beer, and sub with water?
- Or (as is most amusing), did he drain ALL the beer and simply "drink air"?

I was barely fuckin' hanging on by this point, so it gave my brain a little something to cling to as this shit-talking continued. Finally, we hit the west TH and descended 1.5 mi to Mr Roberts' house. There, Cliff continued running, and Mr Roberts mercifully gave me a ride home.

3:00 running, on the nose. He said we were doing "sub 10" pace; I think I was doing about 9min/mi on the trail, then maybe 7:30 on the flat stuff. It's a bit of a stretch, but I'm going to call it 22.

Wore the PI N1's - they were solid on the concrete-like gravel Ridgeline Trail.

SUPER-tired. But man, what a week! Three legit hard days, plus a Hardesty and a long run. Only two "easy days", but that's OK. Tons of long, easy stuff upcoming!
