Weather: 60, overcast, cool
Comments:
Slept shitty last night but felt OK this AM. Hit the trail just a bit after 0900 for the AT.
Ran to the far end of the park again, like last week. A mile in, I saw Brea Wetsch and Ritz within ten seconds. Said "Yo" to Ritz; he's got some shin sleeve on his leg again.
Did 4x strides in the Alton lot beforehand; felt pretty good. Got a drink and started the AT. Saw Ritz again about a quarter into the AT; I would've liked to talk to him but I wasn't about to DIET on the AT. Some other time I'll ask if he remembers a couple "BRUMONDA-Smiths" changing shirts in the bathroom of the restaurant where the Buffs had their pre-Nationals dinner back in '05. HA. Classic BS...
The AT went pretty good, but not too fast. The PRE trails are deceptively slow...or I'm just slow. "50/50, BOTE". Ran 5:38 for an opener than split 11:28 for the next deuce and a half, which is pretty much 5:44 pace. OK. The nice thing was that my stride felt great and it was legitimately threshold: no hard breathing or effort. I hope that equates to 5:30ish on the roads.
Did about 4 for cooldown then headed home.
