June 21, 2009 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60, on/off sun and clouds...and some very light, brief rain
Comments:
Felt OK this morning, pre-run -- definitely better than yesterday. Hit the road this morning, sans watch, because the fucker went haywire AGAIN yesterday and is now pretty much dead. Sucks. Less than two years, I think. WTF, Timex???
Felt a little clunky early, with sore calves from Friday. I did a better job of hydrating and ate a bit more breakfast, so I was much better off mid-run. FELT GREAT going up the hill and up on Ridgeline. The only thing that sucked was this recurring R diaphragm cramp. F. I have a feeling that'll be an issue at Butte to Butte, as its worst after a prolonged uphill THEN a downhill. Double F.
Turned off Willamette to 40th to check out the race start, and along the way found a Safeway, where I went in for a drink, which was key. Didn't run the actual start; instead I ran east 'til I got back on Fox Hollow, leading back to the trail. Ran Rexius back to Amazon, then Hilyard to Pre.
On the way home I was rolling pretty good; I brought a couple Clif Shots along and they helped a ton. Once in PRE I bet was in the low 6s when I rolled up on 3 guys...who turned out to be Nick Symmonds, Will Lear, and another dude. I intro'd to Will, since I'd seen him in LAX at Shithouse a couple years ago. Then I realized I was running right next to Symmonds and said hi to him, too, and a little "congrats" on the Pre win. Chatted quite a bit with Lear as we ran along; wound up running about 1.5 miles with them, which was pretty cool. Quote of the day, courtesy Nick Symmonds: "I've NEVER been rolled up on here before!" :)
GOOD RUN. Felt terrific afterwards.
