6th Annual Crater Lake Circumnav w/BGD

August 24, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Bike

Comments:
Most excellent day! Hit the bikes just after 8AM, with a nice climb in the morning sun. Not too smokey.

Felt GREAT on the bike today, though the climbs, namely those on the east side, were tough. Definitely still felt the Waldo legs on the run climb up Mt Scott. Kept the HR under 160 fairly well on that climb, with a nice view on top.

This might've been the best I've ever felt on my "steel horse" - it was riding smooth, with great shifting and no slipping on the chain wheel. Left BGD behind consistently during the day, which was fine...I think. I wanted to push that MAF effort, and I didn't want him to feel pushed or rushed, so it worked out.

We had a nice stop-off at the Visitor Center, which was fucking jammed. After a snack of COOOOOKIEEEES and soda, we hit the last segments on the bike, with the classic downhill bomb back to the car.

AWESOME DAY!!

I lost my HR data, but I think the average HR all day was in the 130s...I think. This includes all the downhills. I had to bike slow to keep it under 160. I'd say the avg was 155 on the hard climbs, which was fine.

PM: dressed up a bit and hit the Celebration. It was pretty fun, but not as great as I'd hoped. It was hard to mingle with the crowd broken into threes and loud music precluding schmoozing. Did talk to Shawna, which was good. That went well, I thought - a nice mix of funny negs and "value demos". B-)

Tried to work her again at Max's late, but it didn't work out. Oh well. Good night out w/BGD!
