Skinner Run Criterium

September 19, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
No swim this AM: stayed up wayyy to late, and had too much beer. I'm beginning to wonder if I"m becoming resistant to beer (sugar, gluten). So I'm going to do an experiment and have no beer for a couple nights to gauge how I feel....

Pretty long day at work again; was TIRED, but I wanted to work on my run mechanics.

Before lunch, I got on the treadmill for video AND pressure analysis.

When I ran "normal":
- my trunk would go to the left (mild/mod) after R push off
- my arm swing was a little wonky
- the PRESSURE readings: my average land pressure on the R foot was 1100 N. The left? 1600!

When I ran focusing on TWO things (strong L arm back, R arm forward = stronger R hip; and overall, "opening" both hips):
- trunk alignment was 90% better
- pressures were EQUAL: ~1500N/side!

Shit!

So once I got home, I decided I'd do the 1.2mi paved loop around Skinner. I'm guessing it's 200' of climb per lap...I think. I mean, it's halfway up the Butte (500' over base). Felt pretty good, but still felt stiff all over. The "laps":

(2:10 warm-up)
~9:10 (HR 143)
9:07 (144)
9:13 (143)
9:13 (146)
"8:47" (cut down to my apt - 147)

Slowed a couple laps to check out some hot climber chicks in bun huggers.

Legs just felt trashy, which was annoying...but it was 5x pounding down 200', on pavement...

But the treadmill stuff today was awesome: just points out how huge ARMS are, not just for general power, but for correcting asymmetries. Been doing a lot of weight-specific ex's for arm-swing the past couple days.
