Comments:
Beautiful day today...one of the last of 'em, and surely the last day I'll be able to bike after work in the daylight.
Also, my QWAADZ still felt a little rocked, so I figured a moderate bike would be good.
Did the Chambers/Bailey Route, but added an extra rabbit ear of Gimpl Hill (near the area where I did NVM tempo runs).
No zyrtek today, still felt "OK", but I could tell - with burning in the country - that I was feeling it a little, mid-ride. There was enough ash out that it was hitting my face while riding (as if it were bugs!). As such, the HR was abnormally elevated.
Was hyper-focused on NOT irritating my L hamstring, but it got progressively tighter. Mid-ride I figured out that I was running into nerve tension (being hyper-flexed on the seat), so I stopped to stretch. Felt a ton better.
THEN...70min into the ride, I realized I was biking the same way I run! = Pelvis rotated R slightly! = R quad/calf loading, overstretching L hamstring. UGH. SO I corrected that and immediately felt a difference. Good to know!
Good route, and I felt really strong at the end. Pushed way past MAF several times, but now that I'm past (3mo worth of ) base and into speed, I'm OK with it. It also means, starting next week, I will re-intro legit speed (e.g. tempos/progressions, short track) sessions. Looking forward to it.
After the ride, went over to Teresa's and hung out, watched a movie, and "Cuddle+'d". Not sure where this is going to go, but I like her a lot. More than anything...having *some* degree of physical intimacy...oh man, it's been great. Just that physical contact is so nurturing. I can feel a huge difference, physically/mentally: better mood, sleeping better.... It's like being mega nutrient-deficient, then being replenished. :-)
