McKenzie River Trail

December 22, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 34, cold, gray

Comments:
Ugh run. Still felt down, but figured I needed a long run with a possible fast finish, so I drove all the way out to McKenzie again. I've had some great training sessions there this fall, so I thought I'd keep it up.

For starters, it was ICY: there wasn't much snow, but what was left had been compressed and (oddly) the lowest part of the trail had the most ice: quite a bit the first few miles. It improved going up river.

Listened to a couple podcasts, including the end of the (mega-long) Vargo 'cast, then the Condit/BGD cast with was great!

But as I ran along, I just NEVER felt better. By the time I got to Trailbridge (?) 10K in, I felt like shit. But it was so great to be out there, that I stopped running and simply walked/hiked another 1.5mi or so upriver, switching the iPod to the newest Silversun album.

I hiked to a nice little creek/falls, then ran back. Felt UGH-ish at first, then slowly came around.

Ran a total of about 14 miles. Disappointing, but you only take what you can get.
