Pisgah with lc and Zach

December 21, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50, weirdly warm

Comments:
There's this kid named Zach that knows (of) me. He job-shadowed my PT in Junction City, so Mike got us connected because Zach wanted to get in a run. This was August and it never quite happened. But then he re-texted me this week wanting to get together, so I agreed. However, since I've been "down" all week, I wasn't super-excited.

Met him, along with Lewis, at Pisgah, at the same lot where we start/finished the RunFest. I felt sluggish upon waking and scarcely came around by the time we met at 730. The three of us ran a roundabout summit loop (what was loop 2 on race day), which includes about 1500' of climbing.

I led to begin with on the mostly flat stuff, but felt like SHIT. Wasn't sure if it was dust mite poop or just sickness, but it was hard to breathe. Both Zach and lc totally dusted me on the climb up, as I was shuffling just to stay aerobic. UGH. Even the downs sucked! Wow.

Very crap run, but fine, I guess.

Weird rest of the day: got some stuff done at home, then went for a brief visit to Chelsea's - SHE was really sick (obvs from me) - from 1-3pm, then I met Clif at my apt.

BIG convo with Cliff - guy's getting his shit together! Turns out he's got a legit good connection with Melissa, but some tensions from his friend Mark. His big question was that Mark criticized him for "not being a good wing", and Cliff wanted to know from *me* if I thought that was true.

I restructured that question - after a LOT of asking and listening (BGD-style) - to say that the only times he's not been a great guy were times when he was "trying to fill the void", e.g. with girl hoarding, etc. Again (and again), I asked him, "What are you trying to fill?"

Finally, he just came out and told me: the issue of his son and estranged mom in Georgia (Eastern Europe), which I knew, and WORK pressures - of his "struggling" solo business.

Long story short, he was able to recognize (and share) that he was making up for those short-comings by "being successful" with women.

SO HUGE.

We talked strategy with Melissa, who is also struggling with boundary issues, post-divorce. One might imagine that I could relate to this story.

Anyway, it was great stuff. Talked for a couple hours, then grabbed burgers at the Jackalope. He invited me to this party with the Ballerinas, but I declined since I STILL felt like shit the rest of the day.

Hit the sack before 10, for sure.

Good, but weird day!
