Good AM at work: even put in :45 of overtime.

But instead of hauling to go run, I did some homework. Went back into the '10 logs and did a TON of reading.

While I feel I need to read late '09, this is what my progression was - mechanically - through 2010:

- the Pawback ("Flick" forward the leg/foot to pre-stretch/lengthen...but really I think what this did was increase hip flexion/drive -- then PULL back with what felt like a straight leg)

- "forward lean". In one entry I did refer to this as the hip hinge, but otherwise I was just thinking of being forward

- "lumbar lordosis"!!! This one is interesting. A "neutral" (lightly flexed) back is key...and what I read from those logZ told me two things: 1. that you run faster (because the hip opens better) and 2. BREATHING is EASIER!!

I'd totally forgotten about that: the difference in lung volume with a normal back arch. Notably: I was super-out of breath after the 200s last night, where I felt like my back was "braced".

So...after reading all that, I went to run.

It's SHOCKING how much a difference it makes in BREATHING to have a neutral low back! Wow. No wonder why my HR is so high, allergies bad, and "asthma sucks".

I ran into south EUG, working on those principles. I felt GOOD and ran FAST. But, even though it felt good, it was "new work" and the HR jacked. HR got to/above 150, but I didn't care. I want and NEED to get comfortable running "medium hard" again, at least in bursts.

After the run...I went home and napped for a while. At 5 there was a "friends and family fest" at Ninkasi to celebrate the opening of two new, state-of-the-art buildings on their burgeoning "campus". Emily got me and a few others in for FREE BEER and food!!!

Just before leaving, I got a random call that I dismissed. Turned out to be Harry Marra, "coach of Ashton and Brianne Eaton". Wow! He left a message, wanting to talk to me about being their PT! Jeez....guess this is real!

Had a nice time at Ninkasi on a nice Friday night, then headed home. Felt TIRED, but at this point, I'm just going to assume ALL fatigue is pollen. Serz.

Had another long FB chat with KC, where, at the end, I made a much needed "phase shift" -- or at least a subtle one: letting her know that I "liked her" (though more subtly, telling her things I liked about her), and that I wanted to hang out sometime. But since she doesn't seem to have the mobility I do, I put it on her to figure how what (and where, and when).

She liked it. She likes me. :-)
