PRE loop

July 18, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50s, cool

Comments:
Decided on only six this AM, which was perfect because of time and energy constraints. The watch was being weird again, but I know this is a six-mile loop. HR was nice and low and I felt pretty good.

GOOD day of work, then I hustled home. I thought I had tons of time: <2hr drive to PDX, pre-rush hour, I'd have time to get in a couple beers, then fly to MSP.

Well, I took a bit longer than I hoped getting packed up, THEN I lost my phone, so I didn't leave 'til about 12:20. Then...the traffic was EPIC: stop and go about 30 mi out of downtown Portland! WTF?? I knew there's a tight spot on 205, always, but this was totally unexpected...SO far out of town, and GOING IN...at 1:30PM??

I didn't freak out, but I was watching the clock. Flight left at 3:50, and I didn't get to long-term parking 'til 3:05!! Didn't hit the terminal 'til 3:20, so I sprinted off the bus and up to security. I'd checked in on my phone, but as I was advancing up the line, my phone crashed! F! I almost had a melt down as I tried - unsuccessfully - to get it to power-up again. Finally, I took the battery out and put it back in and it loaded.

Thankfully PDX isn't a big airport: I got through security and it was a 2min walk to my gate. When the phone shit out again, I finally just got printed boarding passes from the gate.

Flight to MSP was fine. The fun highlight of the night was my friend Jimmy meeting me in the terminal during my *58 minute lay-over*. I got off the plane and he was there...and 50' away was a tapped beer waiting for me! HA! Awesome. Since he's a pilot, he was literally the ONLY person who could visit. It was fun to hang-out and catch-up.

Boarded on time for Omaha. Really anxious on the flight: it'd been a LONG, stressful day, and I was both excited and nervous to see Kaci.

Got in just after 11PM. Omaha airport is TINY so it took only a few mins to get out front. She was waiting for me, but had to loop around a couple times to pick me up.

It's hard to describe the feeling when I saw her: I couldn't believe how GREAT it was to see her. She just radiates positive energy, even at 11PM on a Friday night :) I forgot how cute and pretty and awesome she is.
She rolled up with "The Olds" - and the passenger door wouldn't open! Ha! So I went in the back, then slid between to the front seat! For the rest of the weekend, I'd "Dukes of Hazzard" my way in and out!

It was a good 25min drive to her place. I wanted to set the tone by kissing her right away (because I wanted to!) but since she didn't get out of the car, I waited. But I reached out to her knee and grasped it, thanking her for picking me up, and for this weekend.

We chatted about a bunch of things on the drive to her house, as she showed me a few places here and there. Then...about midway there, she just grabs my hand to hold it!

Who IS this girl?

It rocked. We held hands the whole rest of the way :-P

Got to her house in a really nice, tree-lined neighborhood in West Omaha. Once out, I held her and kissed her, and that was great.

Her house rocks: a split level with the main living area upstairs and a finished basement down below. Two bedrooms, with a nice living room, faux-dining room (that is open, that she used to "roll out"), and a big, elevated deck overlooking a bike path that actually reminded of Craig's place in Auburn.

She showed me my room...and it had a "Vargo" sign on it! HA! Oh gosh, she's awesome. Then she showed me her room. She has a TINY bed! Like, seemingly LESS than a twin! My bed, thankfully, was like...maybe a queen?

We spent the rest of the night on the couch, just talking, and cuddling. She's so great: tons of positivity and gratitude.
Around 12:30 I figured it was time for bed. I was pretty wiped out. I told her she needed to tell me a bed time story and cuddle a bit, which she obliged. Her 'story" was talking about when we met. She said that, even when we met at Sonoma, she "knew something was going to happen" between us!

After laying there for a while, she asked me, "Would it be awkward if I stayed here tonight?". HA! "Um, NO, I would love that", I said.

Who IS this girl??

So that's where she stayed: by my side, in my arms. We kissed a bunch, but very little of what I'd consider "making out". And that was fine - I just didn't feel the need to. We fell asleep in each other's arms. It rocked.

A great start to the weekend. :-)
