South EUG + 4x200

August 7, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Hadn't done 4x200 in a while so I got back at it today. Ran from work, through to south Eug to the standard turnaround and back to SEHS. When I got to adidas loop, I ran into Tommy, who was just finishig the 2nd of two 1-mile repeats. He was going to bag his third to I asked him to join me on my 4x200.

Did a lap of strides and some warm-up drills, then we got after it. Nice and warm, but not too hot, and a nice tailwind.

NEW focus today: remembered the idea of the "shin plow" - of enhancing hip drive by thinking of "plowing" the shin forward. It improved overall hip separation and lengthens stride. That was a major focus today and it worked well.

Tommy wasn't going to run as fast as me, so I had him take a few-second headstart on each and that HELPED A TON.

The first couple I caught him halfway through. He took #3 off, then joined for the 4th, where I gave him a good 4s start.

Fastest 200s to date, and they felt GOOD:

31.4, 31.2, 31.1, 30.3.

Awesome!

We parted ways after that, after agreeing to grab a beer tomorrow tonight.

Feeling good!!!
