Baldy Repeats

October 15, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 60s, clearing out, nice

Comments:
Fantastic run today: ran from a bit farther away, from 32nd (instead of 40th), to the end of Rexius.

Did 3 repeats today. Heavy emphasis on the PELVIC mobility (what I did so great in '11 and into '12): abs lifting, glutes pushing.

Compendial to that:
- lumbar arch
- hip hinge+butt back
- pawback

The "road" up Powerline has become more and more scree-like: big gravel without any fine dirt holding it, which adds challenge. But that's only about half of the climb.

Felt strong on the climb, the HR spiked when trying to work the pelvis.

Weather was AWESOME: It'd rained on and off all day, but mercifully dried up and was on and off sunny as the evening came.

Felt pretty strong all day, both up and down:

up (HR), down (HR):
10:32 (159), 7:56 (136)
11:00 (164), 8:07 (138)
11:14 (165), ?

I let the HR go a little since doing the right thing with the hips+pelvis was top priority. But those splits line up with what was doing taper-week pre Waldo, which is great.

Was going to go to T&G and get some writing done, but felt a little lazy, so I stayed home.

Wore the old Trail N1s from Sonoma this year...no issues with the heels+ankles! :)
