EASY River Path

November 29, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50 and dry, but cooling off..

Comments:
Slept in again. Felt a little sluggish, probably because of drinking too much last night (1.5 pints at Tommy's, then one at Highlands, than one more back at Tommy's). Had some gut rot, so I decided not to eat.

...like, all day.

There's a lot of general health benefits to intermittent fasting, and, so long as you put back what you're restricting, I think it has good benefits for athletics, too. So...I figured I'd just put it off for the day.

Can't quite remember what I did in the AM, but after messing around a bit, I went for an easy, EASY run.

Again, I'm techincally tapering, but I'm trying to have it both ways, still logging miles. My solution: SUPER-easy mileage.

Rather than run 13x HR, I ran 12x. Ran very easy around Skinner to the river. Wasn't sure if I'd run 4 or 10 miles today; I just went by feel. Jogged easy northbound, then just kept going to Owosso, crossing over and coming back. Once to the VRC bridge, I crossed back again, then ran through the Whit to my apartment.

Had a minor watch malfunction (it likes to turn off when the on+off button sticks). Averaged 122hr for the first 2.6, then 127 for the last 5.4 or so. Nice, EASY 8 miler. The nice thing was, even with this low HR, I was still 8:00 pace (per my watch, which may mean 7:30s).

PM: Went to Allan Bros to work on...my Waldo report! It's so damn late, but I figure that it is important, both to tell the story of what I've been working on the past year, and to remember it, myself.

Went to Matt's house for the last three quarters of the Civil War game. It was a blow-out by the time I got there, but it was a good time to undo the fast. It's also an interesting opportunity to observe he and Sara (and his friends John and Ann) parent! M&S have two girls (3yo, 1yo) and J&A have a 2ish yo girl. I like watching the interactions and power-struggles. The two older girls (Amaya and Claire) are constantly power-struggling: Amaya on her home turf, not always sharing well with Claire. Interesting stuff...for a childless bachelor. :-)

Came home after the game and watched the pilot of "Friday Night Lights". Heard a lot of great things about this show from MrR and Emily, et al.

Tomorrow: going running with MrR and Callie Alice. MrR agreed to chaperone this trip, which is good. Going back to Hardesty TH to do an easy Goodman out and back...
