South EUG + 4x200s

December 26, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: sunny, not too cold...

Comments:
Pretty tired today, but in the interest of "sharpening", I did 4x200 at South. I did a ton of these (maybe 6-8 weeks?) pre-Waldo, and I think they were really good for turnover. This time around, I just didn't have the time in this "early season" build-up. But I guess now's, the time.

My watch was super-low on juice, so I only used it for the 200s. And since I knew they'd be slow, I didn't look at my splits, instead just focusing on relaxed, strong form.

I felt GREAT on these...too bad the splits were SO slow. Per Suunto:

34.0, 33.7, 33.7, 33.6

Yeesh. They "felt" at least like 32s. Oh well.

Going into '15, when I'm in that "phase", I'm going to do a lot more "high frequency speed" - every other day, but light and varied:

- tempo
- legit track (400s - miles)
- 4x200 "long sprints"

I need to rebuild the neuromuscular system. I know I can still do it... This, ultimately, will be the final piece of getting the performance elements of spring '13 back.

Worked a full day (to 5:15), then did "errands" that I didn't want to do on Saturday and Sunday: grocery shopped, got gas, then went to Nordstrom's to return some stuff...and get some new stuff. :-)
