Hardesty Constitutional

January 31, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: high 30s -> high 50s

Comments:
Nice group for a Hardesty run: me, Callie Alice, Hammer, Dan-o, Taylor Spike, and Mike Taylor. All but Dan-o did the big loop.

Ran fairly easy behind Dan-o and Hammer, then they let CA go in front and she progressively pulled away. I let her go, but ultimately kept her within a minute of me for the rest of the climb. I clocked a 64:11, and I bet she rolled close to 63-flat! Impressive!

Hammer and Dan-o and T.Spike were about another minute back, then Mike (running his MAF) was in at 75. From there, all of us save Dan-o continued on. Beautiful conditions out on the Sawtooth ridge! It's crazy how dry it is.

Ran easy on the descent, then even easier with Mike on the dirtroad and Goodman trail while CA and Taylor pushed a little harder. Good chats and catch-up with Mike.

Good run overall. I think our run time was somewhere in the 3-flat range. Felt good to get in a good climb effort!

Wore the original M2s. Felt fine. TAPED my neck again, and could definitely feel better foot engagement on BOTH sides, and WAY more R glute firing, for sure!

Rest of the day: had brunch with CA at the Creswell Bakery, then relaxed in the afternoon. Went to watch the ass-end of the UVA-Duke bball game at Highlands, then back home. Watched "Race for the Soul" with CA.

I'm in a bit of an "existential funk" with running: just not sure what I want to do. Part of me would love, once again, to just be "a normal runner" - and do something like train hard for Eugene Marathon. But I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on another WS push. It's such a long shot, and I don't want to beat the shit out of myself in trying, but...I dunno.

I feel like I need to make a WS trail vision quest...
