Gorge-ous run with Callie Alice!

February 21, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 60, SUPER-nice

Comments:
Weird day. Last night I had an allergy reaction to the tape Mike put on, so I took a Zyrtek...which I think make the drowsiness WORSE!

The plan today was to go up to the Gorge to do a little scouting on the Gorge Waterfalls 100K route. We slept in a bit, then ate breakfast, then finally got on the road.

I felt...TERRIBLE. Just SUPER-tired, fatigued, drowsy, heavy-headed...ugh. On top of that, my achilles was suspect, so I wasn't in a great mood.

Drove 2.5hrs up to the Gorge, the parked at Wakenna Falls, along the very beginning+end of the course. It was PACKED with people, because of how nice it was.

Ran about a half-mile on the road, then went UP-UP-UP: about 1700' in maybe 2 miles or less. The achilles was OK at first, but after we summitted, it began to get sore and squeak. It's not bad, but disconcerting enough to throw off my stride, which is what's really bad. We still had a fun, rocky descent around Multnomah (weaving around tons of hikers), then a bit eastbound on the flat-ish but hella-rocky Gorge trail before I had to call it quits. Ran easy back to Multnomah, then back to Wakeena.

Ran SUPER-easy for about 7 miles, and it took about 1:20! Not much running for 5hrs driving, but it was fun, and worth "seeing" what that course is like.

PM: went to McMenamin's Edgefield for a beer, then drove home. SUPER-drowsy. Turns out the allergy levels were sky-high, so I had:

- tape allergy
- pollen allergy
- Zyrtek side-effect

all at once! Ugh.

Achilles wasn't too bad, but I definitely need Kelly to work on it.
